I was allowed to read anything that I wanted on their dime. I can’t really boil it all down to one book, so here’s a handful from the top:   Operation High Dragon by G. Harry Stine Heart’s Blood by Jane Yolen Crystal Singer by Anne McCaffrey Out of Phaze by Piers Anthony   Everything from cheesy ‘mech fiction to pit dragon fighting and alternate realities there. I was lucky as a kid…my mom and dad both have very sophisticated tastes, and huge book collections, but I was never told to read this book or that by either of them. I was allowed to read anything that I wanted on their dime. I can’t really boil it all down to one book, so here’s a handful from the top:
