Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is a 1985\u00a0cyberpunk\u00a0television movie\u00a0created by\u00a0Chrysalis\u00a0Visual Programming Ltd. for\u00a0Channel 4\u00a0in the UK to provide a back story for\u00a0Max Headroom, a computer-generated TV host. A British produced, yet American broadcast, television series,\u00a0Max Headroom<\/a>,<\/i>\u00a0was later developed from the original film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The Max Headroom story<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Max Headroom<\/em>\u00a0was about an accidentally created, computer-generated being named \u201cMax Headroom\u201d who lived inside a television network\u2019s computer system.\u00a0 Max, as he was known, was forever randomly popping up in each of the televised episodes with pearls of wit and wisdom, delivered in his trademark computer-to-blame stutter, often aggravating friends and foes alike.\u00a0 Still, Max was a generally likeable creation once viewers got to know him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Max Headroom the character was \u201cborn\u201d when an actual news reporter named Edison Carter \u2013 ace investigative, mini-cam-toting reporter for Network 23 \u2013 <\/em>had a near-death encounter in pursuit of a story.  On a motorcycle, Carter was racing into a parking garage on the trail of some hot information when he smashed through, and was knocked out by, an automated entrance gate emblazoned with the warning phrase \u201cmaximum headroom.\u201d  That was the last phrase the erstwhile reporter recorded in his brain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
