Douglas Trumbull is an American film director, special effects supervisor, and inventor. He was involved in the special effects of Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Star Trek: The Motion Picture. He also directed the movies Silent Running and Brainstorm.
In his site, Douglas Trumbull has started covering the creation of the various effects sequences used in Blade Runner. In the first of a three part series, he focuses on creating the opening sequence referred to as the “Hades Landscape”.
